Virginie Baude
Artist of the North
“In reverence of the rugged Northern Wild — the land, the silence and the lives shaped by it.”
“A wolf that meets your gaze.
A raven that carries mystery.
A bear that breathes quiet strength.
I don’t paint from photographs alone. Each painting is built from observation, experience, and memory —shaped into a moment that feels lived rather than staged.
What matters to me is not just how something looks, but how it feels to be there:
the weight of the cold, the distance, the awareness of the animal within its environment.
Over time, my work has evolved toward a balance of strong structure and control, atmosphere and restraint and a sense of tension within each scene
The animals are not isolated subjects—they are part of a larger world. A landscape, a season, a presence.
This is what draws collectors to my work. Many return to build a relationship with that world over time.”
Living Presences of the Wild
Each painting is more than an image — it’s a living force. A glimpse of the untamed, captured in oil.
